More Hellebores

are beginning to open. The wind was so strong last night I ran out in the dark to move plants from the banisters to the floor. This morning because the temperature is up to 60° and it is raining, I put indoor plants out for a drink and a wash.

The Planting of The Apple Tree

Come let us plant the apple tree
Cleave the tough greensward with the spade
Wide let its hollow bed be made
There gently lay the roots and there
Sift the dark mould with kindly care
And press it o'er them tenderly
As round the sleeping infant's feet
We softly fold the cradle sheet
So plant we the apple tree.

Hellebores

bloom early and last a long time. Mostly leaves and buds now, flowers will still be on the plants forming seeds in May and June and remain after seeds are expelled.
