Cryptanthus bivittatus 'Pink Star' is a terrestrial bromeliad that can uniquely photosynthesize by a chemical pathway called crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) which allows the plant to uptake carbon dioxide at night when humidity is higher and store it until the next day.
